Fans Enter Bad Bunny’s Universe at Spotify’s Immersive Experience in São Paulo

Last weekend, São Paulo buzzed with energy as Bad Bunny took the stage for two nights of performances. The concerts marked the first time the Puerto Rican star, and Spotify’s 2025 Global Top Artist, performed in Brazil. To honor the occasion, Spotify unveiled an immersive “De Puerto Rico Pa’l Mundo” (“From Puerto Rico to the World”) experience that brought Bad Bunny’s 2025 album, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, to life.

Fans, creators, and press explored a physical interpretation of the album’s themes. Each meticulously designed space reflected key elements of its sonic journey, inviting attendees inside Bad Bunny’s universe. The concept, previously brought to life in Mexico and Colombia, proved that the power of Bad Bunny transcends borders.

Bad Bunny to Make History in Tokyo With First-Ever Billions Club Live Performance in Asia

Following an extraordinary 2025 in which he was named Spotify’s Global Top Artist for an unprecedented fourth time (and on the heels of that halftime gig), Bad Bunny will headline the next installment of our Billions Club Live series with a special concert in Tokyo on March 7.

The event marks Bad Bunny’s first-ever performance in Asia. It’s a testament to his incredible global reach and the power of Latin music to connect with fans everywhere. Following landmark Billions Club Live performances from Ed Sheeran in Dublin, Miley Cyrus in Paris, and The Weeknd in Los Angeles, we’re proud to bring this unique concert experience to a key music market and celebrate one of the world’s most-streamed artists.

The performance is a celebration of his historic run in the Billions Club, which includes 28 tracks (and counting). Fans in Tokyo can expect a setlist packed with the billion-stream hits that have defined his career. While the show aligns with his DeBí TiRAR MáS FOToS tour schedule, this is a one-night-only standalone concert—not a tour stop—held exclusively for his top listeners in Japan.

The Top Artists, Songs, Albums, Podcasts, and Audiobooks of 2025

With more than 700 million listeners around the world turning to Spotify to soundtrack their lives, it’s time to look back at the audio that defined the year. Our annual Wrapped campaign is here to celebrate the artists, creators, authors, and global trends that emerged, and to show you how your own listening fits into the picture.

The year in music was marked by the return of a global superstar to the top spot, powerful collaborations that became instant classics, and a film soundtrack that took the world by storm. Meanwhile, in the world of podcasts and audiobooks, long-running fan favorites continued their dominance while the fantasy genre proved its undeniable power.

So how did the world listen in 2025? Read on for the full breakdown.

Bad Bunny is once again Spotify’s Global Top Artist

For the fourth time, after claiming the title in 2020, 2021, and 2022, our users have crowned Bad Bunny Spotify’s top artist globally, with 19.8 billion streams this year. He also clinched the global top album of 2025 with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. To celebrate this achievement, Spotify is launching a global campaign honoring the superstar and his fans, including a short film, Leap Year, unique fan activations around the globe, and on-platform surprises.

Rounding out the top five artists are Taylor Swift in second place (but first in the U.S.), followed by The Weeknd (third), Drake (fourth), and Billie Eilish (fifth).

The trends that shaped our year

Music

This year’s most-streamed music tells a story of both superstar collaborations and enduring fan favorites. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ smash hit “Die With A Smile” took the title of top song globally with over 1.7 billion streams, while ROSÉ and Bruno Mars captured the number-three spot with “APT.” Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” climbed from number three in 2024 to the number-two spot this year, showing its lasting appeal.

On the global albums list, Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS came out on top this year. But the influence of the screen was also undeniable, as KPop Demon Hunters (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film) captured the number-two spot. And showing the staying power of a blockbuster release, Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet both returned to the top five for the second year in a row.

Podcasts

For the sixth consecutive year, The Joe Rogan Experience was Spotify’s top podcast globally, followed by The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett and The Mel Robbins Podcast in second and third place, respectively.

Beyond these mainstays, podcasts also became the go-to space for making sense of 2025’s biggest cultural moments in real time. From decoding the TikTok blackout to reacting to unscripted awards show drama and celebrity engagements, listeners turned to a wide range of shows for instant analysis and community.

Audiobooks

In the world of audiobooks, the romantasy boom on Spotify was undeniable in 2025, with authors like Rebecca Yarros and Sarah J. Maas dominating our global top list. This points to another major trend: the power of backlist titles. Listeners are creating a new canon of “modern classics” they return to again and again.

Without further ado, here are Spotify’s full global and U.S. top lists for 2025 across music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

Listeners Worldwide Crown Bad Bunny Global Top Artist for the Fourth Time and His Latest Release Takes Global Top Album

For the fourth time, Bad Bunny is the most-streamed Wrapped artist on Spotify globally, with 19.8 billion streams this year. This isn’t an editorial choice, but one earned entirely by listeners. Wrapped reflects our users’ listening habits, and every stream, playlist addition, and fan moment contributes to this year-end recognition. With this achievement, Bad Bunny becomes the first artist ever to claim the top spot four times.

Bad Bunny’s latest release, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOTos, is also this year’s Global Top Album, underscoring the worldwide embrace this year of Puerto Rico’s vibrant culture and music.

How we got here

Bad Bunny first claimed the global top spot in 2020 and repeated the feat in 2021 and 2022. Taylor Swift took the crown in 2023 and 2024. This year, after the release of a culturally defining album, Bad Bunny is back at number one globally.

In 2022, we celebrated the Bunny three-peat by presenting him with a ring for each year he was Global Top Artist. This year we continued that tradition by giving him a fourth ring during a tour stop in the Dominican Republic.

The Data’s In, and Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rico Residency Captivated the World

When Bad Bunny announced his first-ever residency in his native Puerto Rico, it was clear this would be more than just a series of concerts. His stay, which included 31 shows starting July 11, was a true homecoming celebration, with energy that radiated far beyond the island. As fans around the world followed along on Spotify, the data revealed a story of global connection, cultural pride, and the undeniable power of Benito.

In the US alone, Bad Bunny’s share of global streams saw a 7% lift, and fans created nearly 25,000 new playlists with “Bad Bunny” or “Puerto Rico” in the title. Hyper-local trends emerged, too, including a 29% spike in playlists titled with the Puerto Rican phrase “acho PR.” Tracks performed during the shows, like “VeLDÁ,” “ALAMBRE PúA,” and “BAILE INoLVIDABLE,” quickly became fan favorites.

Gen Z for Benito

This event also highlighted Bad Bunny’s powerful connection with Gen Z. Listeners aged 13 to 27 led the way, accounting for 61% of his global streams and 51% in the US during the shows. While the residency was in Puerto Rico, its impact was global. Mexico led all countries in streaming, and the top-streaming cities worldwide included Mexico City, Santiago, Bogotá, Lima, and Guatemala City. In the US, the most streams came from California and Texas, with New York City and Miami leading among cities.

A platform for Puerto Rican talent

The “Benito effect” also boosted other Puerto Rican artists. Guest performers saw significant increases in listenership, with Chuwi up 18% in new US listeners, and Los Pleneros de la Cresta and RaiNao enjoying listener spikes of 46% and 26%, respectively. Even surprise guests felt the love, as superstars Wisin and De La Ghetto saw their new US listener numbers jump by 41% and 19%. The stage also welcomed legends like Rubén Blades and Ivy Queen, whose presence amplified the event’s cultural significance.

Ultimately, Bad Bunny’s residency was a celebration of Puerto Rican pride, a spotlight for his collaborators, and a reminder of the island’s impact on the global music scene.

Verano Forever: Latin Hits Bringing the Heat on Spotify

As the mercury rises and the days stretch long, Spotify has been turning up the vibrant sounds of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean with our Verano Forever campaign. And the playlist with the same name holding it all together is Verano Forever

But the party isn’t over yet—in fact, it’s about to begin. That’s because Verano Forever is also a full-blown celebration going down in the heart of Miami on August 22. With its rich blend of cultures and deep ties to Latin music, Miami was a natural choice for this immersive event. It’s more than just a party; it’s a space where artists and fans can connect through shared rhythms, stories, and the unmistakable energy of Latin summer.

For Gen Z Latinos, music transcends mere sound; it’s a vital conduit for cultural connection, a catalyst for unforgettable experiences, and a cherished escape in a fast-paced world. Spotify understands this intrinsic link, recognizing that summer itself is a mood—a time for disconnection and reconnection, for dancing away worries, and for savoring every sun-drenched moment.

For the love of Latin

To that end, Verano Forever also underscores the excitement of the genre’s global ascent, a movement kicked off by artists like Bad Bunny and now brought to life through a new wave of trailblazers.

But it isn’t just the latest hits fueling the 2025 beat. These fan-favorite tracks (all more than five years old) see a spike in global streams each summer:

    1. LA CANCIÓN by Bad Bunny and J Balvin
    2. Callaita by Bad Bunny and Tainy
    3. No Me Conoce – Remix by Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and JHAYCO
    4. Danza Kuduro by Don Omar and Lucenzo
    5. Con Calma by Daddy Yankee and Snow

In the U.S., over 12,500 user-generated playlists include the words “verano AND Latin” or “Summer AND Latin” in the title.

The most-streamed tracks in the U.S. on the Verano Forever playlist within the last five years are:

    1. Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido by KAROL G

    8. Tan Bonita by Piso 21
    9. DESPECHÁ by ROSALÍA

The most-streamed artists on the Verano Forever playlist over the past five years in the U.S. are:

    1. KAROL G
    2. Rauw Alejandro
    3. Bad Bunny
    4. Feid
    5. J Balvin
    6. Camilo
    7. Manuel Turizo
    8. Myke Towers
    9. Ozuna
    10. Maluma

Also at its heart are the dynamic subgenres shaping the contemporary Latin soundscape. Spotify is creating a dedicated space for listeners to discover and immerse themselves in these rising movements. From Afrobeats Latino, where Latin elements fuse with African rhythms, to Latin House making waves in the electronic dance scene, and Caribbean fusions blending funk, reggae, and soul, the diversity is exhilarating. Even salsa is experiencing a vibrant resurgence, with a new generation of Latin artists breathing life into the iconic genre.

A backstage pass to the heat

Verano Forever will feature in-depth artist storytelling, highlighting the journeys of artists who contribute to this rich tapestry. Names including Rawayana, Beéle, and Myke Towers among others will receive the spotlight with narratives that often trace back to humble beginnings, offering inspiring and relevant insights for fans.

Verano Forever is a testament to Latin music’s undeniable global influence and its power to define a season. Spotify is showing up where Latin culture lives, creating exclusive, fan-first moments that solidify its role as the ultimate curator of a vibrant summertime soundtrack.

A New Way for Fans To Get Hyped for New Albums Is Here—Meet the Upcoming Releases Hub

Marking a first, Spotify has launched the Upcoming Releases hub—a destination solely dedicated to highlighting soon-to-be-released albums powered by Countdown Pages, a feature introduced last year.

This hub provides users with a one-stop shop to explore personalized recommendations based on their listening history. Located under the Search tab on mobile, fans can easily find the “Upcoming Releases” tile to browse these personalized suggestions and the top 10 global Countdowns based on the number of pre-saves.

Fans can easily pre-save multiple upcoming releases directly from the hub and quickly jump into Countdown Pages to preview the tracklists, stream released singles, watch Clips, find merch, and follow the countdown right up until release. Then, on release day, we’ll send a push notification to all the fans who’ve pre-saved, automatically adding the music to their library.

We’ve already seen the success and momentum Countdown Pages can build. Since launching in summer 2024, 60% of major artists—including Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, and Bad Bunny—have used Countdown Pages to drive pre-release hype with fans.

Countdown Charts come to Spotify socials

In addition to the Upcoming Releases hub, we’re rolling out Countdown Charts on our Spotify and Spotify for Artists social channels, giving fans more ways to stay in the know. Every Wednesday, we’ll post an updated list of the top 10 Countdown Pages with the most total pre-saves globally.

“The Upcoming Releases hub is about celebrating what’s next in music, and Countdown Charts bring a whole new level of visibility to releases that fans are most excited about,” said Madeleine Bennett, Senior Director, Head of Global Music Go-to-Market. “By ranking the top pre-saved releases globally, we’re giving artists a powerful new way to build anticipation and connect with their biggest fans in the lead-up to release day.”

For eligible artists (i.e., artists with at least 5,000 active listeners in the last 28 days), be sure to create a Countdown Page for your upcoming album or EP to be eligible for the hub and charts.

Taylor Swift sets a new pre-save record

Update as of September 29, 2025: Since launching the Upcoming Releases hub, we’ve seen incredible momentum from artists and fans alike. Now, to show fans just how much their support matters, Spotify will begin sharing pre-save counts for the top 10 Countdown Pages worldwide directly within the hub.

Leading the pack is Taylor Swift’s upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl, which just became the first Countdown Page to surpass 5 million pre-saves, making it the most pre-saved album Countdown in Spotify history.

In the weeks leading up to the release, Taylor built anticipation with a series of strategies: unveiling the tracklist, dropping exclusive Fans First merch, and adding special Spotify Clips for fans.

If you’re an artist looking to maximize your own Countdown Page, here’s what works best: Share it widely on social, upload engaging Clips like teasers or behind-the-scenes footage, and set up your page as early as possible. On average, Countdown Pages published at least seven days before release see nearly twice as many pre-saves than those published later.

And the impact lasts: Nearly one in seven listeners who pre-save through a Countdown Page become super listeners by release week. It’s proof that Countdown Pages don’t just drive first-week streams—they help build lasting fandom.

Want to see which artists are building the most excitement? Check out the Upcoming Releases hub to explore the top 10 Countdown Pages—updated daily—and watch the numbers climb. And don’t forget to follow @spotify and @spotifyforartists for weekly Countdown Charts.

Salsa’s Rhythmic Revival: A New Generation Discovers the Genre’s Timeless Appeal

Salsa is making a comeback, captivating new listeners with its infectious energy and compelling narratives. Spotify data underscores this trend, revealing a global surge in salsa streams of more than 140% over the past five years, with U.S. consumption nearly doubling.

What’s driving the resurgence? Look no further than Gen Z. Listeners aged 18 to 24 are now the second-largest demographic streaming salsa worldwide, demonstrating a clear embrace of its unique sound.

While mainstream stars like Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro have introduced salsa to wider audiences, artists like Christian Alicea, Luis Figueroa, Moa Rivera, Luis Vázquez, and Jonathan Moly are taking the music in new directions. They’re blending tradition with modern sounds, keeping salsa fresh and exciting.

Of course, the classics endure. Tracks like “Lloraras” by Dimensión Latina and Oscar D’León and “Ven Devórame Otra Vez” by Lalo Rodríguez continue to resonate with listeners, consistently ranking among the top-streamed salsa songs.

Salsa’s growing footprint

The genre’s rising popularity is evident across the U.S. In 2024, several cities experienced remarkable growth in salsa consumption on Spotify, including:
