DJ Levels Up With Spanish-Language Requests, Text Requests, and Personalized Prompts

People turn to DJ for a listening experience that feels personal, dynamic, and just a little bit magical, whether they’re getting ready for the day, winding down at night, or simply looking for music that fits their mood. Serving up suggestions with insights from our global editorial experts and leveled up using AI, DJ helps you uncover new tracks, rediscover old favorites, and connect deeply with the music you love.

Since introducing voice requests earlier this year, DJ listening has increased, showing just how much fans love interacting with and shaping their sessions. Now, we’re rolling out new features designed to give you even more control. Starting today, Premium users can ask DJ for music in Spanish, send text requests, and get personalized suggestions to help set the perfect vibe.

Music requests in Spanish

DJ Livi now accepts music requests, giving millions of Spanish-speaking listeners a new way to curate the vibe of their sessions in real time. Whether you want “clásicos de reggaetón de los 2000” or “canciones tranqui para desconectarte,” you can now ask DJ for music to match any mood or moment, en español.

Text requests

You asked, we delivered. In addition to using your voice, you can now type your music request in both English and Spanish, one of the most-requested Spotify features on social media from fans. Whether you’re commuting or in a quiet space, DJ adapts to your needs and puts your listening in your hands.

Need a little inspiration? DJ now offers three personalized prompt suggestions to kickstart your session, like “reggaeton beats for an energetic afternoon” or “refreshing surf rock for a midday break.” It’s an easy way to get the music flowing, no matter your mood.

How to request music with DJ

These new features are rolling out in English and Spanish for Premium users in more than 60 markets worldwide. Here’s how to make a request:

    1. Search “DJ” on Spotify.
    2. Press play and DJ will serve up a curated mix of music and commentary tailored to you.
    3. To switch up the vibe, tap the DJ button in the bottom-right-hand corner and give DJ your request via voice or text.

As a reminder, DJ can handle a combination of genre, mood, artist, or activity-related requests. For example, you could try “play some cozy folk music for fall” or “give me spooky tunes for my Halloween party.” Since DJ requests launched, fans have asked for everything from workout music to chill vibes, with country, hip-hop, and rock among the most popular genres.

These latest enhancements are all about giving listeners more ways to interact with DJ and make each session their own.

Spotify Gives You Even More Control With the Ability to Exclude Tracks From Your Taste Profile

Personalization is at the heart of Spotify. When you ask listeners what they love most about Spotify, more than 81% cite our personalization, and we’re always evolving to help you create a listening journey that’s uniquely yours. Starting today, you can exclude individual tracks from your Taste Profile, in addition to playlists.

Your Taste Profile is Spotify’s interpretation of your taste, based on what you listen to and how you listen to it. It helps inform your recommendations, from Discover Weekly to your Home page, and personalizes experiences like Wrapped and Blend.

Excluding a track will lessen the impact of both past and future streams of that song on your recommendations, so your “just for the moment” listening doesn’t end up skewing your Spotify experience.

You’ve already been able to exclude select playlists from your Taste Profile, and now you can do the same for any track, whether it’s a calming sleep sound, your kids’ go-to song, or a one-off listen that doesn’t fit your usual vibe.

How to exclude a track from your Taste Profile

This feature is available now for Free and Premium users globally on web, desktop, iOS, and Android. Here’s how it works for individual tracks and playlists:

    1. Select the track or playlist you want to exclude.
    2. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of your screen.
    3. Choose “Exclude from your Taste Profile” (or “Include in your Taste Profile” to add it back later).

With more control over your Taste Profile, your recommendations and personalized features can stay true to your unique musical taste, even if your listening habits sometimes take a detour. Spotify’s recommendations will keep evolving with you so your listening experience stays fresh and personal.

Spotify Teams Up With Martin Garrix, PinkPantheress, SOFI TUKKER, and More to Debut Mixed Playlists With Seamless Transitions

Last month, Spotify introduced the ability for Premium users to mix their own playlists with transitions so every track flows smoothly into the next. Now that the feature (in beta) has fully rolled out to all eligible Premium users, some of the world’s top DJs and producers are showing what’s possible.

Head to our new Mixed Playlists hub on Spotify to hear exclusive mixed playlists from artists like Martin Garrix, PinkPantheress, SOFI TUKKER, Chris Lake, Steve Aoki, WizTheMc, Romy, Don Diablo, Pete Tong, Fcukers, and DJ Seinfeld, as well as globally renowned clubs, collectives, and more. Whether you’re looking for a workout soundtrack, a party starter, or inspiration for your own mixes, these playlists are a masterclass in smooth transitions.

Just added: Swedish House Mafia has released an exclusive mixed playlist featuring extended tracks and special edits, giving fans a chance to relive their recent Arthur Ashe show in New York. Listen here.

Ready to try mixing your own playlist?

Open your Spotify app and select a playlist you’ve created (or make a new one), then tap “Mix” from the toolbar and start experimenting.

Once you’ve created your unique playlist, just hit “Save.” You can share your playlist, or even collaborate on it with friends who are also Premium users. There’s also an option to toggle the mix on and off at any time by pressing the “Mix” button.

Three tips to help you mix like the pros

1. Try the presets for easy experimentation.

Not sure where to start? Tap a preset like “Fade” or “Rise” to let Spotify do the heavy lifting. Presets combine volume, effects, and EQ (equalizer) settings to help you get a feel for what works.

2. Match BPM and key for the smoothest sound.

Songs might feel like they go together, but for the smoothest transitions, check that the BPM (beats per minute) and key are similar. You’ll see that data in the playlist and Edit transition view—use it to scan and stack like a pro.

3. Keep the flow, set the tone.

Is your mix a slow burn or a dancefloor sprint? Arrange your tracks to build energy, shift moods, and take listeners on a journey. Great playlists don’t just play, they perform.

Lossless Listening Arrives on Spotify Premium With a Richer, More Detailed Listening Experience

Lossless on Spotify Premium is here.

Lossless audio has been one of the most anticipated features on Spotify and now, finally, it’s started rolling out to Premium listeners in select markets. Premium subscribers will receive a notification in Spotify once Lossless becomes available to them. Whether you’re diving into a new album or revisiting old favorites, lossless delivers the highest music audio quality on Spotify.

“The wait is finally over; we’re so excited lossless sound is rolling out to Premium subscribers,” said Gustav Gyllenhammar, VP Subscriptions, Spotify. “We’ve taken time to build this feature in a way that prioritizes quality, ease of use, and clarity at every step, so you always know what’s happening under the hood. With Lossless, our premium users will now have an even better listening experience.”

Lossless is part of our commitment to continually improve Spotify Premium so fans can discover and enjoy the music they love. This highly requested feature takes your Premium experience to the next level. Together with popular features like DJ, Jam, AI Playlist, brand-new Mix, and daylist, as well as playlists curated by our leading global music editorial team, the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service continues to get better.

With Lossless, you can now stream tracks in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, unlocking greater detail across nearly every song available on Spotify. So you can enjoy new releases and your favorite tracks, in the highest quality, while being immersed in the music.

Your device, your music, your listening experience, your choice

We know everyone listens differently, so we’re giving you custom settings for Wi-Fi, cellular, and downloads. Choose between Low, Normal, High, Very High, and now Lossless music quality to provide maximum flexibility and control. You’ll be able to see how much data each of these requires to make choosing easier.

Lossless is available on mobile, desktop, and tablet, as well as on many devices that support Spotify Connect, including Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, and more. Support for additional devices, including those from Sonos and Amazon, arrives next month.

How to enable Lossless

To turn on lossless audio in the Spotify app:

    1. Tap your profile icon in the top left.
    2. Go to Settings & Privacy → Media Quality.
    3. Select where you want to enable lossless audio: Wi-Fi, cellular, downloads.

And just to note: You’ll need to enable Lossless manually on each device. You’ll know Lossless is on because the Lossless indicator will appear in the Now Playing view or bar, and via the Connect Picker.

For the smoothest and best listening experience, we recommend streaming lossless music on Wi-Fi using wired headphones or speakers on a non-Bluetooth connection, like Spotify Connect. Currently, Bluetooth doesn’t provide enough bandwidth to transmit lossless audio, so the signal has to be compressed before being sent.

Lossless gives listeners every detail of the music, which means the audio files can be larger. As users enable lossless on their devices, it may take a moment for the track to play. But once it’s cached and loaded, you are ready to listen.

When can I start listening?

Lossless is rolling out gradually to more than 50 markets through October. Premium subscribers in Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK have already started to get access.

*Update as of October 6, 2025: Lossless is now available to Premium users in more than 50 markets.

Jam Reaches 100 Million Monthly Listening Hours

When we launched Jam, the idea was simple: Music is better when it’s shared. Since then, listeners around the world have been queuing up tracks, enjoying them in sync, and soundtracking moments together, whether across the couch or across continents.

Now, Jam sessions are hitting a high note with 100 million monthly listening hours. That represents all the shared moments where friends and families are creating their soundtrack together.

And the numbers tell an even bigger story: the U.S., Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and Canada lead the charge as the top countries where Jam is most popular. Cars are now the top device fans use to Jam, followed by speakers, phones, and TVs, proof that shared listening is happening everywhere, from road trips to hanging out at home.

So here’s to the friends who DJ, the ones who just add one song, and everyone who makes the queue a little more unpredictable and a lot more fun. Every Jam proves it: Listening together never goes out of tune.

Premium users can start a Jam by tapping the Create button. Invite friends and family to join, or if you’re playing on a speaker with Spotify Connect or Bluetooth, those nearby can jump right in. Everyone in the Jam can add songs, see who queued what, and shape the vibe.

Spotify’s DJ Now Takes Requests, Enhancing Real-Time Music Discovery

People all over the world love DJ. At the gym, at home, whenever and wherever you want a deeper experience with great music, DJ is the answer. In fact, DJ listener engagement has nearly doubled over the past year—it’s like having a personal musical friend who just gets you.

We also know that listeners have asked for more ways to interact with DJ and enjoy more control over their listening sessions. That’s why we’re excited to share that DJ is now taking music requests, giving Premium users in more than 60 markets an entirely new way to curate the vibe of their listening sessions in real time. Serving up suggestions using AI and insights from our global editorial experts, DJ helps you uncover new tracks, rediscover old favorites, and connect deeply with the music you love.

By simply using your voice, you can now ask DJ to update your personalized listening session based on the music you want to hear at that moment, whether you’re looking for something to set the mood for date night or need some high-energy tracks to get you hyped for a party.

DJ can handle a combination of genre, mood, artist, or activity-related requests. For example, you could try, “Surprise me with some indie tracks I’ve never heard before,” or “Give me some electronic beats for a midday run.” You could even request something like, “Play me some cry-in-the-car songs.”

Listeners have come to know and love the personality and voice of our AI English-speaking DJ, modeled after Spotify’s Xavier “X” Jernigan. Now you can actually talk to DJ X and ask for music to match any mood or moment. It’s a two-way street, taking personalization to a whole new level.

Start requesting music with DJ

DJ requests will be available in English for Premium listeners in more than 60 markets where DJ is currently available. Here’s how to make a request:

    • Head to the search tab on Spotify and search “DJ.”
    • Press play and DJ will serve up a curated mix of music and commentary tailored to you.

    • Want to mix things up? Hold the DJ button to switch up the vibe or make a new request.
    • If you want to change the vibe but don’t have a specific request, you can skip to the next section with a quick tap of the DJ button.

We should note that while requests with DJ are designed to be fun, the feature is still in beta and won’t produce results for non-music-related requests, like audiobooks or podcasts.

We’re excited to give our listeners even more control and to continue evolving the DJ experience. So get creative, make some requests, and let DJ take you on a personalized musical journey.

*Update as of September 23, 2025: DJ now takes requests on Android Auto. Premium users can interact with DJ by simply tapping the “Talk to DJ” button on their car’s Android Auto screen. Whether you’re commuting to work or on a weekend getaway, effortlessly steer your DJ session on the road with voice requests like, “Play some new indie tracks.” This new integration lets drivers seamlessly change the vibe wherever the road takes them.

In order to access the “Talk to DJ” button in your car, make sure you’ve first given DJ microphone access on your phone.

We’re also continuing our multiyear partnership with Coca-Cola.

3. We’re helping advertisers reach their goals on Spotify with new measurement tools built just for Spotify and new 3P partnerships: We’ve rebuilt our first-party measurement stack and expanded tools with key third-party partnerships, enabling advertisers to evaluate performance across the funnel.

  • New Lower-Funnel Objectives: Starting today, our new App Installs Objective enables advertisers to show ads to people likely to click and download their app, while our new Website Traffic Objective enables advertisers to optimize their campaign toward people most likely to view their website.

  • Measurement Solutions: We’ve updated Spotify Brand Lift, our 1P measurement tool that helps advertisers understand how their Spotify campaigns impact their brand metrics. Lastly, we’re investing in key 3P partnerships to offer greater measurement capabilities and ensure that Spotify can be a trusted partner in this ever-evolving landscape.

AI Playlist Is Rolling Out in Beta in the US, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand—Get Started With These Pro Tips

In April, Spotify introduced AI Playlist in beta, providing our Premium subscribers in the U.K. and Australia with another tool to fuel discovery and music curation. Now we’re expanding the feature, giving more users another opportunity to express themselves through the music they love. Starting today, AI Playlist in English is rolling out in beta to Premium users on Android and iOS devices in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand.

AI Playlist combines Spotify’s powerful personalization technology with generative AI so users can turn their most creative ideas into playlists. Whether you’re totally new to the game or a prolific playlist creator, this feature offers a fun, easy way to create and curate that perfect musical mix, just for you.

Playlists on Spotify are hotbeds for discovery, fostering deep relationships between artists and fans. In fact, there are over 22 billion new artist discoveries a month on Spotify, with two billion of these turning into more lasting connections between fans and artists.

It didn’t take long for AI Playlist to make its mark after launching in the U.K. and Australia—to date, users have created millions of playlists that they keep coming back to. With AI Playlist, you can flex your creative muscles, crafting the ideal vibe for any particular moment or mood.

The magic of AI Playlist

Creating a playlist with AI Playlist is as easy as entering a unique prompt into the chat, like “upbeat pop music for my European summer vacation” or “a romantic playlist for date night at home.” Spotify will then offer a personalized selection of songs that match the vibe you’re going for, which you can revise and refine by typing in additional prompts.

The more specific you can be, the better. The most successful playlists are generated with prompts that contain a mix of genres, moods, artists, or decades, so get creative! You can also reference places, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, and even emojis.

With AI Playlist hitting four new markets, For the Record asked a few of the Spotify bandmates behind the feature about the prompts they use to create the AI-powered soundtracks to their lives.

Frankie Shlain, On-Platform Marketing Lead

“I prompted AI Playlist to give me a playlist of rom-com soundtracks from the ’90s and ’00s, and it delivered! My playlist was made up of tracks from some of my favorite movies from back in the day, proving AI Playlist definitely understood the assignment.”

Erick Morales, Product Marketing Lead

“I went on holiday to Tulum, and as I was packing and preparing for my trip, I asked for chilled electronic music to manifest my dream life in the Caribbean. AI Playlist helped me create a Caribbean Dreams playlist with some pretty sweet music I had never listened to before, along with some personal favorites.”

Annabelle Rolland, Senior Data Scientist

“Prompt: ‘Give me some funky and upbeat songs to help me unpack my boxes in my new home.’ The resulting playlist was called Energized Unpacking Grooves, and I also created another playlist that day called Moving Day Melodies. We had just moved into our new home and I needed an upbeat playlist to give me some energy to unpack a mountain worth of boxes!”

Renato Gamboa, Senior iOS Engineer

“Driving through the desert roads of Joshua Tree National Park in California was an unforgettable experience. To relive those magical moments, I used the prompt, ‘Desert house music for driving through Joshua Tree.’ I knew AI Playlist nailed it when it suggested some of my favorite tracks. Wanting to hear some fresh desert house tracks, I refined my prompt to include only tracks released within the last month. Now I’m back on those desert drives with brand-new hits, making the journey feel even more special!”

Get started with AI Playlist

Head to the Spotify mobile app and search “AI Playlist” to bring up the feature. You can also select “Your Library” at the bottom-right corner of your screen, and from there, tap the “+” button at the top-right corner and select “AI Playlist.”

    • Next, select one of the suggested prompts or type your own. Remember, get creative and be specific!
    • Just like that, Spotify will curate a personalized playlist featuring the tracks, artists, and genres we think you’ll like.
    • From there, you can easily manage the selection of songs by previewing and deleting tracks, or ask Spotify to refine the playlist with additional prompts.
    • Tap “Create,” and your new playlist will be saved automatically in Your Library.

While AI Playlist is designed to be fun, this feature is still in beta and won’t produce results for non-music-related prompts, like current events or specific brands. We also have measures in place around prompts that are offensive, so please prompt responsibly.

With this expansion, we’re excited to bring AI Playlist to more users so they can express themselves in creative ways and explore new music. We’ll keep iterating and innovating on this experience to better serve our listeners, so stay tuned for so much more to come.

daylist Is Expanding Into New Markets and Languages, So Here Are 3 Tips To Make the Most of It

From sunup to sundown, Spotify’s daylist serves up an ever-changing playlist of songs that match your mood as it evolves throughout the day. Since launching a year ago, it has erupted as a fan-favorite feature that listeners keep coming back to. In fact, 70% of daylist users tune in week after week, millions of listeners stream it every day, and it has emerged as one of the most popular Spotify features that drives discovery.

This spring, we expanded daylist in English into 65 additional markets, but there are still listeners around the world eagerly awaiting this one-of-a-kind experience. Today, we’re thrilled to share that daylist will be available globally to both Free and Premium users—and, for the first time ever, supported in the following languages: Arabic, Catalan, French (Canada), French (France), German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Mexico), and Turkish.

With this expansion, many users will now be able to see our unique daylist titles in their native languages, from “afrofuturisme funk moderne du mercredi après-midi” (modern funk afrofuturism wednesday afternoon) to “pazartesi sabah etiyopya caz enstrümantal funk” (ethiopian jazz instrumental funk monday morning). Our product team worked closely with our local music and culture experts to infuse the spirit of daylist into each language, ensuring that the feature resonates with new users worldwide.

On devices where Spotify is available, simply search “daylist” to bring up your playlist or head to spotify.com/daylist. You can also find daylist in the Made For You hub. The feature updates multiple times a day, and you can view on the playlist page when your next update will be.

If you’re trying out daylist for the first time—or want a few pro tips to get even more out of it—we’ve got you covered.

How to share your daylist

Since its launch, daylist has proved to be quite the conversation starter. In fact, Wrapped aside, it’s Spotify’s most-shared personalized experience, with millions of shares from users in markets where the playlist is available. Since daylist is all about expressing your individuality, shareability is built into the experience and you can choose from three different sharecard options to upload:

    • A changing sharecard with up to four different background graphics depending on the time of day you post your daylist
    • A ready-made screenshot of your daylist
    • A social media sticker that captures the essence of your daylist

How to make a copy of your daylist

Just because daylist is a playlist that regularly updates doesn’t mean you can’t save the moods that strike the perfect chord. If you’re loving a specific daylist playlist, you can save it to Your Library in three easy steps:

    • Tap the three-dot menu on the playlist page.
    • Select “Add to other playlist.”
    • Tap “New playlist” to save that exact daylist to Your Library.

How to never miss a daylist

As your day in a playlist, daylist helps you understand more about your taste in music. To fully experience all of your niche tastes and ever-changing moods, you can add daylist to Your Library for easy access:

    • Tap the three-dot menu on the playlist page.
    • Select “Add to Your Library.”

That’s it! Now you can find your daylist at a moment’s notice.

With this expansion, we’re excited to see even more users celebrate their unique musical tastes through daylist. We’ll keep iterating and innovating on this feature to better serve our listeners, creating delightful, personalized experiences all around.

Just like that, Spotify will help you curate a personalized playlist based on the tracks, artists, and genres we think you’ll like. “Testing video courses in the U.K. allows us to explore an exciting opportunity to better serve the needs of our users who have an active interest in learning,” said Babar Zafar, VP Product Development at Spotify. “Many of our users engage with podcasts and audiobooks on a daily basis for their learning needs, and we believe this highly engaged community will be interested in accessing and purchasing quality content from video course creators. At Spotify, we’re constantly striving to create new offerings for our creators and users, and having built best-in-class personalized music and podcast offerings, we look forward to exploring the potential of video-based learning on Spotify.”

With this offer, we are exploring a potential opportunity to provide educational creators with a new audience who can access their video content, reaching a bigger potential swath of engaged Spotify users while expanding our catalog. About half of Spotify Premium subscribers have engaged in education or self-help-themed podcasts.

For this test, U.K. Free users and Premium subscribers will be able to trial at least two lessons per course for free before making the decision to purchase additional lessons, which they can do on a dedicated web page.

Try it out for yourself:

  • On the mobile app, U.K. users will find course videos in the home and browse tabs.
  • Once clicked through, users can explore available courses across the four categories before purchasing them on desktop. Once purchased, the courses will be available on mobile and desktop.
  • On desktop: https://courses.spotify.com/home
  • Users can select courses they’re interested in, and upon purchase, start learning, watching on mobile app or desktop.
